Senior Family Law Clerk

Aggarwal Law is a boutique law firm specializing in family law, real estate, and estate law. We are committed to delivering compassionate, client-focused legal services. We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Family Law Clerk to join our team and assist in the efficient operation of our family law practice on a contractual basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities


    • Prepare and draft legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, and financial statements.
    • Conduct file management, including organizing, scanning, and maintaining legal documents.
    • Assist in the preparation for mediations, hearings, and court appearances.
    • Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates on file progress.
    • Maintain compliance with legal filing deadlines and court requirements.
    • Coordinate with external parties such as opposing counsel and court staff.
    • Assist with billing, including managing time entries, generating invoices, and ensuring accurate client billing records.


    Required Skills & Qualifications


    Legal Document Preparation
    • Drafting applications, financial statements, answers, and replies.
    • Preparing case conference briefs, settlement conference briefs, and trial management conference briefs.
    • Drafting motion materials, including affidavits and factums.
    • Preparing draft orders and 17F Confirmation Forms.
    • Completing Net Family Property Statements.


    Client & Professional Communication
    • Communicating effectively with clients.
    • Responding to opposing counsel, the Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL), and the Children’s Aid Society (CAS).


    Court & File Management
    • Scheduling court dates and filing legal documents.
    • Tracking due dates based on endorsements and updating the lawyer’s calendar accordingly.
    • Organizing and maintaining case files.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications
    • Post-secondary education in a legal assistant or law clerk program.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working in family law.
    • Strong knowledge of the Family Law Rules and court procedures.
    • Experience with legal billing and familiarity with billing software (Cosmolex experience is an asset).
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, whether in a virtual or in-person setting.
